What is physical therapy for a shoulder injury?

The shoulder girdle is a complex structure with many potential degrees of movement.  Not all shoulder therapy programs look the same. Your physical therapist may utilize manual techniques such as gentle joint mobilizations, soft-tissue massage, and manual stretching to restore smooth movement between your shoulder and shoulder blade. These techniques will often be coupled with range-of-motion exercises to improve flexibility and targeted muscle strengthening to promote proper mechanics and functional movement patterns.

Our therapists will work closely with the rest of your medical team to ensure that all members are on the same page and working in unison towards your best outcome.  Please contact your physician, or reach out to us directly, if you are unsure whether physical therapy is the right choice for your upper body condition.  We would love to help!
