TMJ/TMD

Disorders of the jaw and surrounding muscles and tissues are referred to as TMD (temporomandibular joint disorders).  TMD is simply referenced to by its location (show picture of joint). The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint that connects your skull and lower jaw. It is responsible for the opening and closing of your mouth.  Disorders of this region can result in jaw pain, stiffness, difficulty talking or chewing, and symptoms of clicking or locking of the jaw.  Dysfunction related to TMD include difficulty yawning without pain, eating certain foods, and complaints of neck pain, stiffness, and headaches.
